Facing her demons

While she was waiting in the billing queue she was feeling a sense of accomplishment for facing her demons today as opposed to dodging it earlier.

It wasn’t easy when she gingerly entered the supermarket and forced herself to go through all the four aisles of the store.

This particular supermarket, the power yoga centre and the fuel station around the store, along with her favourite Cantonese restaurant in his neighbourhood were among the few places where she had enforced self-prohibition since they went south.

She wanted to eliminate the chances of running into him and evading these places nestled in proximity to his house seemed like a viable option. But, for once and for all, she wanted to face her fears rather than hiding from them.

It was time for her to lift the self-imposed ban. Post her trip to the supermarket, she had planned to take herself for a Cantonese lunch in her favourite restaurant.

She knew she would not check-off all the forbidden places in one go but starting with the supermarket she had indeed shown incremental progress on the road to recovery.
