During their grim five-minute meeting in the building’s basement, she could barely express her anxiousness over him shutting her out. His curt tone and distant body language had stopped her from saying much about his detachment even though she had so much to say.
How she wishes that instead of using work pressure as an excuse he would have resorted to the truth, irrespective of how painful it would have been. He owed her the truth – the truth, which would have helped her in surviving the break-up.
She heard him with a heavy heart without reacting to his excuse of being swamped with work. Even after he had left the basement, her legs were glued to the spot waiting for him to come back but he never turned back.
