She wasn’t the damsel in distress kind but her unanchored and passionate attraction for him made her awkward around him.
She appeared unconfident and timid, which was far from her real self – a self that needed a tiny boost and self-validation to get her groove back.
Being able to go ride a sports bike after religiously taking biking lessons for two months and staying focused at work without any emotional interruption were the small joys that were acting as her confidence boosters and were uplifting her spirits.
Taking time out to capture the magnificent heritage structures with her DSLR and being able to adhere to the rigorous handstand training for 30 straight days, were other small milestones giving her a sense of accomplishments. But the biggest triumph was being able to restrain her feelings to reach out to him.
While she didn’t know how to stop unloving him, she had surely figured a way to curtail the emotions that were nudging her towards him.
Unfriending him on social media, no scrolling through old chats, less frequent visits to her memory archives, no teary eyes after running into him, etcetera were some of the small indicators that she was celebrating.
While the big victories were eluding her, these small wins were becoming an equivalent to winning a battle. While sipping a six-year-old chardonnay she said, “Cheers to life-changing incremental victories.”
